It’s my birthday this week! To celebrate, I’m going to be featuring several cocktails that are perfect for entertaining this month. First up, this sweet and refreshing Disaronno sake cocktail.
It’s super simple to make but fancy enough for a birthday celebration, Valentine’s day dinner with your sweetheart, or a fun Galentine’s Day party with your friends.
What is Disaronno?
Disaronno is a sweet liqueur flavored with almonds that’s similar to Amaretto.
Although the Italian company that produces it carefully guards the Disaronno formula, they have let it slip that it is made with a combination of apricot pit oils and other herbs and fruits. To learn more about how this liqueur is made, visit the Disaronno website.
I find the flavor of this liqueur to be pleasantly fruity and light. It’s delicious on the rocks after a meal or mixed into drinks like this Disaronno sake cocktail.
The Flavors in this Cocktail
In addition to the Disaronno, this cocktail includes some sake, brandy, and bitters.
The sake balances out the sweetness of the Disaronno by adding some lightness and a subtle hint of fermentation to the drink. If you would like to know more about sake and how to use it in cocktails, check out these strawberry rosé popsicles with sake.
The brandy and the bitters give the cocktail a more well-rounded, complex flavor that is sure to please even novice cocktail drinkers.
